OUR HISTORY

1985 - Walter Boasso founded a 5-acre Dry/Tank container repair depot in New Orleans. Later that year, he and local business partner, Scott Giroir, launched a container Trucking division

1988 - A dedicated Trucking Division was formed in the name of Gulf States Intermodal to target the demand and growth of Tank Containers

1989 - Outgrew the New Orleans facility and moved to a 15-acre site in Arabi, LA. A wash rack was erected shortly thereafter in order to provide “full” service; the first of its kind in the US

1997 - The Chicago and Detroit terminals were opened to meet the demand of customers in the Midwest region

1999 - The Houston terminal was opened as more and more Gulf exports migrated from the Port of New Orleans to the Port of Houston

2000 - The Charleston and Jacksonville terminals were opened to provide a much-needed presence in the ever-growing South Atlantic gateway

2003 - Outgrew the Arabi facility and moved to the current 50-acre Chalmette, LA site

2007 - Boasso was purchased by Quality Distribution Inc. (QDI) in December

2008 - Boasso Management assumed control of Legacy Quality Distribution terminals in Newark, NJ and Savannah, GA

2011 - Boasso acquires the Norfolk terminal previously owned by Greensville Transport Company

2015 - Boasso’s 10th terminal, servicing the Memphis area, is opened in West Memphis, AR. Quality Distribution Inc., including Boasso, is acquired by Apax Partners

2016 - Boasso’s 11th terminal, servicing the Mobile area, is opened in Creola, AL. Acquired ISOtank Group U.K., marking the beginning of the overseas expansion with 8 locations throughout the United Kingdom

2017 - Boasso acquires Den Hartogh's tank cleaning and depot business in Europe, which includes 2 locations in the Netherlands (Botlek & Dordrecht), 1 in France (Amiens), and 1 in Spain (Parets)

2018 - Boasso acquires Kobler, Tank-und Silo-Container Transport GmbH based in Mutterstadt, Germany

2019 - Boasso acquires Midwest Systems and MWS Intermodal Services (St. Louis, MO), Hermann Butefuhr und Sohn GmbH (Duisburg, Germany), and MT Clean (Kingsport, TN)

2021 - Quality Distribution, Inc. becomes Boasso Global. Boasso Global acquires PM Rees & Sons, Ltd. and Atlantic Tank Clean Barry, Ltd and moves their corporate office to Tampa's Sparkman Wharf

2022 - Boasso Global acquires Frans de Wit, a leading ISO tank services and trucking business based in Moerdijk, The Netherlands.

2022 - Apax Partners agreed to sell Boasso Global to KKR Global Infrastructure Investors IV (“KKR”), a large private equity investment firm.

2022 - Boasso Global acquires Transportes Paz Ciria, an experienced provider of tank container transportation services to the chemical sector based in Parets del Valles, Spain.  

2023 - Stronger together! Quala & Boasso Global join forces, creaying a leading infrastructure service provider for Liquid Bulk Logistics Industry.
